History of development and construction
Leading private Queensland construction company McNab was awarded the contract to construct the complex and commenced building in February of 2007. The UQ/DAFF Centre for Advanced Animal Science (CAAS) commenced operations under the General Operating Protocols approved by the CAAS Management Committee, in September 2008, with approximately 25 - 35 research projects being conducted annually on site, including several on-going projects still running.
In 2013, a name change from the Centre for Advanced Animal Science (CAAS) to the Queensland Animal Science Precinct (QASP) was effected to more accurately reflect the nature of work conducted.
