QASP has a small scale research feedlot which is officially accredited under the National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme (NFAS) through the Australian Lot Feeders Association (ALFA). The QASP feedlot is accredited for a maximum of 150 cattle AE. With 6 large pens that can be subdivided into 12 sub-pens using high quality aluminium subdividers. The feedlot has been designed to maximise animal welfare with large shade cloths being provided and varying substrate materials underfoot.

The design of the feedlot also streamlines animal husbandry and experimental procedures. Access to the feed bunks is such that the feed tractor can effectively deliver chopped hay or other feed material directly into the feed bunks. There is an industry approved weather station on site at the feedlot to allow recording of climatic conditions during experimental trials. Access to Growsafe units directly behind the feedlot.

The design of the QASP facility is such that all cattle in the feedlot have access to the main yards via a series of flexible laneways that can be configured so that cattle delivered by a truck can be inducted and habituated in the main yards, and then moved to the feedlot and to other facilities on site without the need to engage further use of the truck.
