QASP has built steel sheep and goat yards on built-up road base, which connects directly into the Metabolism shed. The design has created facilities that are user friendly and labour saving, where OHS and animal welfare are paramount. With a total area of 18m × 12m, the yards are split into 1 large yard, 5 smaller yards and 1 let-up yard. All panels are 1.2m high, suitable to secure both sheep and goats. The yards are made of portable steel panels allowing for flexible redesign to accommodate the researcher's requirements. The inoculation and drenching race leads into a Gallagher weigh crate. The yards are equipped with a 4-way draft with a lane way on 2 sides, and will be connected to future sheep and goat pens. The pens will be equipped with concrete water troughs and shade shelters for the welfare of researchers and animals.
