The containment area includes an isolation facility which is a building measuring 9m × 15m and is screened with fine mesh ceiling and isolated cold room panels. The quarantine building is separated from all of the other QASP buildings by a distance to allow a sufficient biosafety barrier.
The main part of the isolation building has a large open space suitable for crates to house a wide variety of animals under quarantine conditions. The facility comes with non-slip flooring and a fully evaporative cooling and heating system. There is also an adjacent ante room, feed storage area and shower and toilet facilities for personnel.
