The Quarantine Yards were specifically designed in collaboration with a low stress stock handling expert, made by steel posts and cattle rail as the top rail. There are 3 separate pens; 2 smaller pens 20m × 20m and 1 larger pen 30m × 16m separate by a 5m laneway. Each pen has a 6.5m × 6.5m shade shelter, 4m portable feed bunks and concrete water troughs. The troughs have a 1m concrete apron surrounding them and all drainage goes directly to the sedimentation pits. All fences around the pens are reinforced with feral netting and as an added security a single electric fence is in place approx. 0.8m from the ground. The pens are attached to large 14m × 14m working yards to allow direct access to process cattle, whilst remaining in the quarantine area.

The welfare of the animals is of the highest priority with the yards area shaded to protect the animals from the elements. The crush and the race are both concreted to allow for ease of cleaning. There is ample lighting, a power outlet and a large table to facilitate data collection and sampling in the shaded yards.
